Sol LeWitt – Wall Drawing

Zwanzig der vierundvierzig Jahre Ausstellungstätigkeit der Galerie haben sich in denselben Räumlichkeiten an der Neptunstrasse 42 abgespielt. Dies ist ein Anlass, den wir mit einer besonderen Ausstellungsreihe begehen. Der Dialog mit den eigentümlichen Charakteristiken und architektonischen Gegebenheiten unserer Lokalitäten hat uns und den Künstlern der Galerie unvorhersehbar reiche und inspirierende Möglichkeiten offeriert. Die Ausstellungen zeigen das Profil der Galerie im engen Zusammenhang mit den Räumen, die es erlaubten, dieses sichtbar werden zu lassen. Es sind Arbeiten von Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, Robert Mangold, Robert Ryman und Richard Tuttle zu sehen.

Die Eröffnungsausstellung 1993 wurde zum besonderen Ereignis. Die Werkgruppe von Dan Flavin, die die Räume einleuchtete, trägt die Widmung «For the Vernas on opening anew». Wir freuen uns über die Möglichkeit, eines dieser Werke wieder zeigen zu können.

Drei Wall Drawings von Sol LeWitt, 2001, 2004 und 2009, vermittelten jeweils eine überwältigende Erfahrung. Kunst, die Dauer und Vergänglichkeit verbindet und das Hier und Jetzt besonders wichtig und wertvoll erscheinen lässt. Die Installation einer Wand Zeichnung für die jetzige Schau setzt einen überaus wichtigen Akzent.

Seit 1993 waren Einzelausstellungen der folgenden Künstler zu sehen:
Forrest Bess, James Bishop, Antonio Calderara, Andreas Christen, Joseph Egan, Dan Flavin, Richard Francisco, Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, Robert Mangold, Brice Marden, Agnes Martin, Rita McBride, Ree Morton, Giulio Paolini, Sylvia Plimack Mangold, David Rabinowitch, Glen Rubsamen, Robert Ryman, Fred Sandback, Myron Stout, Richard Tuttle, Robert Wilson, Jerry Zeniuk.
